Hi,
I was just a the supermarket and thought of a couple more things that you may or may not have already been told...
Avoid crumbed products. They often use egg to help the crumbs stick. Beware of pastries as they often use egg as a glaze to make them brown.
Eggs are an expensive ingredient so check out the home brand products. Safeway's home brand version of tiny teddies are egg free and I have just discovered that Arnott's Hundreds and Thousands biscuits are too.
Also, as your son gets older, beware when eating out as things like hamburgers usually have egg as a binding agent. I have never used egg for binding as my Mum is egg allergic too. I just use tomato sauce or something like that to add flavour as well. If your mixture gets too sloppy add some bread crumbs or rolled oats. Oats add some hidden fibre and you can't tell when they're cooked. It works great for meatloaf as well.
I hope this helps,
Megan
